Our World / What are our top interior trend predictions?
These top interior trends are sure to bring new life into your home.
We're all rediscovering the value of the handmade artisan and opportunities for custom and crafted materials are important in a machine and technology driven society.
More of our clients are favouring fixtures and handcrafted pieces from the finest materials and craftsmen to create unique environments. Traditional and ethnic craft methods including woodwork, metalwork and the artistry of bespoke pieces fashion a space that is completely individual. Like natural elements, they embrace inherent imperfections that encourage the eye's focus around the space and create an inviting feel. The end result is original and intensely personal.
Interiors are highlighting more sustainable, environmentally friendly and ethically sourced handmade pieces than ever before. We're beginning to see more organic, curvilinear pieces in furniture, light and art too as well as a fusion of different natural materials including metals, stone and ropes. We’re introducing the combination of metals with wood and stone in areas such as flooring also. Mixed metal accents are a good way to create balance and definition in an environment. But all these grounding elements connecting humankind with nature introduce a serene ambiance to any space.
Natural elements aren't simply in the form of materials either. We're noticing adaptations of the natural world through shape and texture too, which beautifully add character to a space. We've observed numerous interior pieces including reflecting nature in its purest form, where everything is unique and one of a kind.
Richer Colour Palettes
Welcoming richer hues into a space can make the more natural-hued elements in a home really pop.
We're particularly seeing a move toward rich jewel tones including emerald green, dark teal, burnt orange, magenta and indigo. One of the great ways to introduce jewel tones is through luxurious velvet upholstery. But layering a space with an array of various pieces including fabrics, accessories and rugs in these colours can completely transform an environment into a wonderful sanctuary.
Every home needs a dose of pattern whether it be tribal, ikat or geometric designs. Adding prints into interiors certainly brings a touch of visual interest and activity. When introducing patterns into a space it's worth considering the size too. Big configurations are best reserved for expansive wallpapers or the decorative component to a statement piece of furniture. Whereas tiny ones are suited in small doses such as throw pillows or an accessory piece.
Rich colours with bold patterns make a dramatic statement in any room as well whether it be a vibrant patterned backsplash, themed wallpaper or bespoke embellishment.
Say goodbye to "less it more". Passamenterie is the art of creating elaborate trimmings often seen on furniture, such as leather, shells, exotic feathers, tassels, ornamental cords, pompons, fringes and so on. We've found that modern interpretations of this are certainly making a comeback.
Rich colour combinations and curvilinear shapes complement the use of detailing such as this rather exquisitely too. This detailing is very well placed in homes with ornate or formal decorative styles.
